CMS’s newest primary care model, the Making Care Primary (MCP) model, launched today with the goal of improving patient care by “expanding and enhancing care management and care coordination, equipping primary care clinicians with tools to form partnerships with health care specialists, and leveraging community-based connections to address patients’ health needs as well as their health-related social needs” (CMS Announces Multi-State Initiative to Strengthen Primary Care | CMS). MCP’s design builds on other CMS primary care models that ARC has supported over the past 12 years, including the Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) model, CPC+, and Primary Care First (PCF).

ARC is pleased to have provided key analytic support to CMS during the development of the MCP model. ARC’s work informed various aspects of CMMI’s model design, such as payment methodologies.

In addition, as a partner organization under the MCP Design and Operations contract, ARC is excited to continue to contribute to the MCP model and more broadly to CMS’s work to improve primary care delivery in the U.S.
